Special Lecture on the “Overview of Central Asia and the Cooperation Strategy.”

On July 22, 2020, the GDPC at KRIHS hosted a special lecture on the “Overview of Central Asia and the Cooperation Strategy.” The event featured a renowned expert in the field as the guest lecturer, Dr. Sang-joon Lee. He is a professor at Kookmin University and the former president of The Korean Association of Slavic-Eurasian Studies. This special lecture was planned as part of the continuous activities of the specialized research group on Central Asia within the KRIHS.


This specialized research group aims to deepen the understanding on the importance ofCentral Asian countries as global development partners. Dr. Lee provided a general overview of the Central Asian countries in the context of international cooperation. He implemented integrated approach to explain the characteristics of the Central Asian countries becausethey share the same physical, historical, and cultural background. During the lecture, Dr. Lee encouraged the GDPC to lead and take up the crucial role of initiating cooperative and collaborative efforts within the sectors linked to the KRIHS. A Q&A session followed the lecture, where the researchers actively shared their insights.
