International Workshop: Reconsidering Korean Urban and Regional Development Experiences: Implication for International Cooperation
Date: August 28 (Wed) - 29 (Thu), 2019 Venue: Prince Room at Koreana Hotel, Seoul, Republic of Korea
Dr. Hyun Soo Kang, President of KRIHS expressed gratitude to the participants and emphasized importance to monitor Korea’s 60-year experience in the national territorial development as a successful example to developing countries in terms of international aspect. In the following, Dr. Se Hoon Park, Director of GDPC stated that Korea has the lack of consideration of social, economic and political context of recipient countries, even though Korea is in a special position in international aid. He expected that this workshop would be a good opportunity to reflect and discuss on the challenge.
The workshop consist of four sections: 1) Outlining Urban Transformation in Korea, 2) Korean Model of Urban Development, 3) Policies and Institutions and 4) Actors and Players and in each section, 2-4 writers presented and discussed on the draft of research.
