The 14th GDPC Brown Bag Meeting
Global Development Partnership Center (GDPC) of Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements (KRIHS) held the 14th GDPC Brown Bag Meeting on July 27 (Thu) on 3rd floor meeting room. The Research Fellow Sehoon Park was invited as a presenter to share about how Korea achieved economic growth. The content was from the book named “How Asia Works?” (Joe Sutdwell, 2013).
Sehoon Park introduced three interventions for economic growth: land reform, export discipline towards manufacturing, and regulation on financial sector. He also explained success factors of Korea’s economic growth by comparing Korean cases with other Asian Developing countries’ cases.
After the lecture, the discussion was continued on current trends of global development cooperation emphasizing limitation of past study about success factors of economic growth in East-Asian countries, implication of current research and follow-up projects, partnership with developing countries and China’s recent ODA implementation.
The Director of GDPC Jinkyu Chung, Research Fellow Jungho Moon, Research Fellow Hoje Kang and all members of GDPC participated in the Brown Bag Meeting and shared their opinions on factors of economic growth in Korea and other Asian developing countries, and future direction of global development partnership as well.
